NEW Little Yellow Bicycle from CHA

I know that most people are still in full swing of summer, but it won't be long until the kiddos report back to school and  experience another year of learning and fun.  Little Yellow Bicycle is ready for the memories with our BRAND NEW Makin' the Grade collection.  This collection has a great balance of bright colors grounded in kraft paper and cork.  My daughter is ready for the first day - pigtails and all...
As always, LYB has included some really fun Fresh Verse Stickers along with many other embellishments like the more "grown up" school bus.
This collection has potential for more mature layouts, like this one of a high school graduation.  There is enough versatility to save school memories from Kindergarten to high school.
A little bakers twine wrapped around the patterned paper and secured with a fun paper clip give this layout a lot more dimension.  I like to use Tombo's Mono Glue to keep the twine in place.
The kraft cardstock makes a perfect background for the cards and the paper kit has some really fun award decorations.

It was fun to use this middle sized nesting suitcase to alter it like a lunchbox with the Makin' the Grade 5 Things Pocket.  I love the little owl embellishment with the Fresh Verse Stickers.
The pocket holds 5 different cards, one for each day of the week to write little lunch notes to the owner of the lunchbox.  I bet this 5 Things Pocket could be attached to the inside of a real lunch box for the same effect of sending special notes to your beloved student.
I thought it would be easy to write the notes on post its and then stick it to the card for the day of the week and then the cards could be reused each day and week.

I'll be back tomorrow with another post from Simple Stories.  Hope you are as excited as I am about all of the CHA releases.  It is going to be an amazing fall and winter!

Take care -

NEW Simple Stories Harvest Lane Collection

Simple Stories has done it again with another amazing collection.  Harvest Lane is their beautiful fall collection with so many wonderful details.  I love the gorgeous woodgrains against the reds, blues and greens in the collection.
As always, Simple Stories has created the most adorable cardstock stickers to match the collection.  These patchwork and polka dot hearts add just the right amount of endearment to the design and sentiment of the layout.  I included a little bit of velvet floss for a homespun affect,
Layering different elements of the patterned paper, cardstock stickers and expressions make a fun design that emphasizes the photo of my daughter.  She is at such a fun age right now, not a little girl and not a teenager yet either...
I love to use the 4 x 6 Journaling Card Elements to make cards.  For this one, I cut a 4.5 x 12 inch strip of paper from the Harvest Lane Yellow Quilt/Notebook Paper.  That way there is notebook paper on the inside of the card to write a message to the recipient of the card.  I used a combination of the Harvest Lane Bingo Cards and 4x6 Journaling Cards to create the design.
I pulled out my Fiskars Apron Lace punch (throwback) and some velvet floss to add a little detail and homemade appeal.  Pop dotted the cardstock stickers and added a few jewel stickers for good measure.
I used the same technique on this card as the first one, but made a different sentiment.  The adorable barrel of apples makes the card extra special.

I have been on vacation for a couple weeks and am now back full-time.  I'll have another post tomorrow with some brand new Little Yellow Bicycle.  Hoping to bring back my sketches too.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!  Thought it would be fun to use some of Little Yellow Bicycle's Saturdays collection to make a card for the holiday.  The reds, whites and blues in the collection are perfect for the occasion.
I added some of the star stick pins from the Head of the Class collection to add a little pizzazz to the design.  These are old felt Thickers from American Crafts, but I thought the texture went well with all of the texture included in the Saturdays collection.

Hope you and your family are having a good time celebrating our nation's birthday.  We are just stuffing ourselves and I snuck away for just a moment to write this blog post - LOL.

Thank you for stopping by!
