Miniature Layouts with Doodlebug and a Giveaway

Are any of you caught up in miniatures these days?  Not everything has to be about a mini album, because I thought it would be just as fun to make mini pages to be displayed more creatively - like with these adorable mini clothespins or maybe in a frame that can be changed from time to time.  I was very happy to be invited to guest design on the Doodlebug blog this week using the theme of miniatures and their Snips and Snails collection - please see the end of my post for the giveaway details...

The secret to a good mini page is to add just enough detail to make it interesting, but not to overload the "small" page.  I love how the wallet-sized photo is about the same size as the punch out journal card.  They create a nice balance together and really make the sentiment stand out.

Who doesn't love mini clothespins and banner stickers?  I slightly overlapped the banner stickers and added mini pearls to connect them.  Doodlebug makes some of the very best buttons and their boutique buttons are so cute I really just want to sew them on my children's or my clothes.

I used my typewriter to add this sentiment to the fun little journal card.  First I backed it with blue cardstock so that I could roll it through the typewriter without bending or tearing the fun notebook edges.  Then I added some of the shaped star brads to the bottom of the card.

This photo of my son really makes me smile.  As much as I love to watch him grow, sometimes I wish we could suspend time, so I could hug and hold him just a little bit longer.  He has the sweetest and softest little hands and I just love to hold them.  I kept this page ultra simple so the photo would shine.

Dad and son fooling around in the aspen grove.  Love the little dog cardstock sticker that matches the one on the journal card on the "So Fun" page.  I added it to tie the pages together.  The eyes on the sticker were enhanced with mini pearls and I used foam take to make it stand out a little more from the star sticker boarder.

I just love how well these colors go together.  The bakers twine makes a fantastic border to unify all of the pages in their design, as well as a great clothesline to hang mini pages from.
