Bonus Sketch & Layout

I know I owe you all a sketch as I missed posting one last Sunday, so here is the one from the September Sweet Peach Crop Shop Kit.  I was guest designing for them through the summer and this is sadly my last sketch for that club.  Life is just a bit too busy right now...
My layout Girl Twirls was inspired by fun photos of my daughter spinning and the awesome sticker banners from Sassafras Lass’s Indie Girl collection.  It’s like a match made in heaven and the pink in the papers was the perfect complement to my daughters floral dress.
Aren’t these Thickers a gorgeous color?  They are a beautiful partner for the Indie Girl papers and especially the beautiful music note paper.  I even love the way they look against the darker blue cardstock.
I cut apart the banners and interchanged them on my layout to add more interest and to spread out the two rows I included in the sketch.  I also pop-dotted the top layer to make it stand out just a tad bit more from the row on the bottom, especially where they cross on the layout for the journal card.  The Maya Road ribbon buckles make a really beautiful embellishment.

Sweet Peach Sketch Challenge

Come join the Sketch Challenge at The Sweet Peach Crop Shop! Playing along is so easy and all you have to do is link your project to a post in the comments. Although we would love to see your work with the Sweet Peach kits, we understand if you want to use any product you choose. So no excuses, give it a whirl. We’ll draw for a Random winner on Monday, August 3rd and then post the August sketch on the following Monday.
I wanted to make my layout as bright and fun as possible, so I focused on the reds, blues and yellows in The Girls Paperie papers included in the July kit, especially to compliment the photo of my kids playing. thus the title: Little Kid Time. I also wanted to incorporate as many elements from the kit as possible.
I cut the little banner flags from The Girls Paperie Pennants paper and just used three of the brightest patterns for a more dramtic effect. Then used a brown Zig Writer to draw the strings and tiny clips that hang the banner.
I used the flap of the Maya Road envelope to trace the patterned paper in order to dress it up a little more than just the kraft paper. Then I added a button and tucked in the Pennant Pins. This is an idea that I unabashedly stole from my dear friend Robbie Herring. You should check out her blog for all kinds of ideas :)
I wanted to incorporate the red airline cards that were included in the kit, and ended up using my retro flower punch to make the shiny smaller flowers. It was the perfect color of red to make them pop. Then I added a light green pearl to finish it off.
Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you will join the challenge over at the Sweet Peach Blog.

Introducing Sweet Peach

Just wanted to let you all know that I am sketch designing for a new kit club called Sweet Peach Crop Shop which is owned by a very sweet woman named Corrie Jones. Each month I will post a sketch and challenge at the Sweet Peach blog along with some example layouts from the Design Team. Click here to see the sketch from this month.  There is also a pretty cool RAK to be won by random drawing.  Hope to see a few of you sketchy girls playing along this month.  You can use any materials you choose.
The club offers a featured kit and a themed kit. This layout was created with the Juicy Kit which featured Lily Bee Designs Hello Sunshine mixed with Jillibean Soup.
I absolutely love these adorable little velvet butterflies from Petaloo, which are also part of the Juicy Kit. There is a whole package and they come in 5 different colors.
