Much to Celebrate

Today is my birthday and my husband surprised me with some beautiful earrings (silver loops - my favorite) and the Chaco Sandals below.  The earrings will dress up my casual Colorado life style, because honestly I would wear the Chacos to a business meeting if I could - LOL.
I am also celebrating that tomorrow the Fall issue of Scrapbooking and Beyond Magazine will hit newsstands and my little Maddie is featured on the cover! What a wonderful birthday to have so much to celebrate.
I was lucky enough to have three pages featured in this issue.  The cover page is from the Gadeget Girls series featuring cool new tools from the industry.  You can actually sign up to win the GCD Chipart Tools that I used to create my page.  Just follow the link HERE.   My page features Jillibean Soup, Little Yellow Bicycle, Nikki Sivils and GCD Studios.
My friend, Robbie Herring, and I wrote a really cute column called Krafty Friends which tells how we met and began our wonderful friendship.  We each have a few pages featured using the ever popular kraft paper.
This page features some awesome corrugated kraft paper from Creative Imaginations and Little Yellow Bicycle's Pack Your Bags collection.  My son had such a great time choosing a pumpkin last fall and I love how this collection captures the colors of the season and the sentiment of the excursion.
This page of my daughter features some Jillibean Soup staples kraft paper and the Elementary Collection from Simple Stories.  I love reds and kraft paper always seems to make it pop without going overboard.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Nikki Sivils Cardset

I think I totally forgot to share these cards created with Nikki Sivils Blueberry Hill collection and featured in Summer issue of Paper Creations 2011.  I used the same materials with each card, but a different main element to create these three fun birthday cards.  I created the sentiments for each card in a textbox on my computer and printed them white cardstock.  Then I cut them out and added them to the backgrounds.  The cards are each 6x6.
I made this one in honor of my son turning 3 this summer.  I used my Cricut Country Life Cartridge to cut the banners.  I like how the primary colors pop with the blue gingham papers.
These balloons were fun to make and the handstitched strings add a lot of personalization to the card.  Just added some bling to the hand drawn border.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Scrapbooking & Beyond Summer Kit Kraze

It's Kit Kraze time again at Scrapbooking and Beyond Magazine and this issue's AWESOME kit was designed by the lovely Susan Dupre with the help of her friend Nikki Sivils. It is the perfect color combination for summer fun and you can enter to win this kit by visiting the SB&B website. Please visit the other designers on this project - Julie Howard and Robbie Herring - to see their work with this amazing kit.I totally dig the Craft (sandwich) flags and Breadless tags...such a clever idea from Nikki Sivils.

I walked out to the mailbox yesterday to find this little gem waiting for me. Had absolutely no idea my layout had made the cover until I actually had this in my hand. Jane, the editor, keeps it all hush, hush and just surprises the designers. Obviously this put a big smile on my face, made my day and most of my Scrappy Life. I owe a big thank you to all the wonderful folks at SB&B, and especially Jane Guthrie and Heather Klimas.

Thank you so much for stopping by and celebrating with me :)

Scrapbooking and Beyond...Give Away

The Spring issue of Scrapbooking and Beyond is out and and I am excited to announce that my friend and partner in crime Robbie Herring has made the cover with the layout from our latest series called Kit Kraze. Here's a little excerpt from the magazine about our series...

"This series will show readers what it is like to receive a scrapbook kit and some possibilities for projects as shown by the four designers participating in this series. Get inspired to create fabulous pages by checking out the work of these talented designers, grab your own kit, and get to scrappin’."

Here is my layout...I had so much fun styling this kit with the Pebbles Inc. Lil' Miss collection. My goal for the layout was to use a little bit of everything in the kit without making my layout look too cluttered. The color palette on the printed papers were a perfect compliment to the photo of my daughter. I laced some sheer ribbon through every two holes of the Creative Imaginations die cut to create a more dramatic border.

Now for the AWESOME part - we sent one extra kit to the magazine to give away to one lucky person. All you have to do is click here to enter. There will be a kit to give away in each issue this year. Stay tuned for the summer issue which features a styled kit from the very talented Susan Dupre. The amazing Julie Howard is the other designer working on this project and both she and Robbie will also be putting together wonderful kits.

Thanks for stopping by -

Speechless!

I was absolutely stunned to see that my Let it Snow layout made the cover of Scrapbooking and Beyond's Winter 2009 issue. This is more than a dream come true and I think I have been walking on Cloud 9 for a few days now. I have to give most of the credit to my cute little munchkin, Maddie, for her inspiring personality which always shines in her photos.

This layout was designed for a series at SB&B called A Flourish for Every Season, which began in the Spring 2009 issue. The Winter issue is our final installment of the wonderfully fun series. I specifically chose the KI Memories Frosty Lace Cardstock as a major design element for its flourish pattern. I also love Pebbles Inc's Snow Fun collection. It is the perfect combination of blues, greens and whites and feels perfectly cold.

This little Snow Day mini album with the same Snow Fun collection can also be seen in the SB&B Winter 2009 Issue. I used a Plain Jane chipboard album that had scallops on the first layer and then wielded my Fiskars Apron Lace punch to mirror the pattern on the rest of the layers.

Thank you for stopping by and celebrating with me - Liz

Scrapbooking and Beyond Spring 2009

It's really exciting to be part of another series at Scrapbooking and Beyond Magazine. This year it is all about flourishes and a different one for each season. The refreshing rain drops of spring just called for crystal flourishes. Stay tuned for summer with a new kind of flourish.

Scrapbooking and Beyond Summer 2008

This is the second sketch in a series of four I have created for a project with Scrapbooking and Beyond Magazine called Sketch Anatomy. Check out the current Summer issue for directions on how to make a sketch yourself. Also - this is the layout I created from the sketch. I love the K&CO Roam papers with the chipboard.
For all you educators out there, can you say Venn Diagram? Makes a good sketch though.
