Guest Designing for Adornit

Bloom_LizQualman This week I have the pleasure of working with Georgana Hall from Adornit again.  She sent me three delicious collections to work with... but, I might have to choose the Misty Collection as my very favorite and I don't say this lightly because I am totally in love with their Bee Happy collection from the previous release. But truth be told, I adore scrapping with reds and this collections is loaded with exactly the right shade and patterns. Talk about polka dots...sigh. I had a lot of fun with this project. When I saw the sentiment on the cardstock sticker about Love blooms...I started to formulate this layout in my mind. I used my Cricut Country Life cartridge to cut the water pitcher and stems, but then I used the pattern paper below to cut out the flowers.

LG_22260 Georgana also sent these amazing clear stickers that I used to decorate the pitcher and to mirror the flowers I had fussy cut. I also inked a lot of the vase to grunge it up a bit. Then I found these older My Little Shoebox chipboard letters which were the perfect funky fit for the layout. Don't they just jump off the page???

Bloom_LizQualmanclose1 I like to pop-dot many of the embellishments on my projects to make them stand out more and create depth in the layout. I used foam on the stickers to give them a little more dimension and lift them off the page. You can really see how it works on the red flowers. One technique to give you some wiggle room is to back them with cardstock, that way you can move them around without having to commit right away on a location, not to mention how it will spare your patterned paper from eminent rips and tears.

Imaginisce Sketch Challenge

It's time again for another amazing blog hop and sketch challenge with Imaginisce.  This month we have a sketch from the talented Cindy Stevens.  I decided to take a walk back down memory lane and use the Imaginisce To Love and Cherish collection to create this layout.
Most of you know the drill, but I'll add the scoop just in case.   Add a comment to the Imaginisce home blog and you will be entered into a drawing for some Imaginisce goodness. Leave a comment here and on any of the other design team blogs who participated in the sketch challenge this month and you increase your odds of winning. Don't forget to stop by the Imaginisce Facebook page for even more chances of winning.   Hope you will play along this month for another opportunity to win some goodies.
Imaginisce has some new fun tools and things to play with.  Check out my Roly Rosie Flowers that I added to my layout.  All I needed to do was pop out the pre-cut strip, ink the edges with some chalk ink, and use my Petal Roller to create the flower center.  Then I added one of the pearl brads that came with the To Love and Cherish collection and voila - I easily created some really pretty flowers.  You have got to try these!
Have you checked out your stash lately???  I found these red chipboard letters from My Little Shoebox that I had completely forgotten about and OMWord are they so much fun and the perfect addition for the title.  I love it when I clean my scraproom and it feels like Christmas again - hee, hee,

Sunday Sketch w/ Me

Hope you all don't mind a week with just me.... the guest designers will be back next week. I just needed to take a little break and roll out some stuff I already had put together. I've been digging out from under since August and just now getting caught up. I know this sketch is a little unorthodox with the big huge dinosaur, but it is really meant to show off the layout I created below. This sketch is definitely eligible for the October Sketch Challenge - and no you don't have to include the big ole' dino, but I kinda dare you to use one in your project - or something along the same lines :)

These are the cuter than cute Dino-Roar papers and embellishments from Imaginisce! They are shipping to stores as I write this, or maybe they are already there. In any case - you have to have them!!! I love the colors and the dinosaurs are adorable, perfect for a little man like mine - who is totally obsessed with dinosaurs.
I used my Cricut to cut the letters in the title with the Feeling Groovy cartridge and the shadow feature. Then I found some old American Crafts thickers that were the perfect shade of green to match (don't you just love it when that happens?) I also used the brand new Dino Tracks Cricut cartridge to cut the dinosaur - so easy. Then I added some gems with my iRock to finish it off.
I cannot use my Dymo label maker enough. It is the lazy woman's way of adding journaling without having to exert more energy to use my computer. Journal strip says, "Never get in the way of a little boy and his dinosaur." As if we should all know better...mine will pop you on top of the head with his dinosaur if you are not watching out - much to my poor daughter's chagrin.
Just in case you were freaking out about the very large DINOSAUR smack in the middle of your page, here is the sketch without him. However, I do have to say that it is really quite boring without it.
