Fern and Forest Boy Shipping Soon from LYB

OMGnome!  Did you know Little Yellow Bicycle's Fern and Forest Boy collection is shipping this week?  And I have to say that this is one of my all time favorite kids' collections.  The color palette is perfection and I really appreciate the softer hues on traditional boy colors.  My sister and I joke that this is my son Henry's "Robert Redford" look with the shearling coat and the natural background.
These letters for the title "Boy" are really made from chipboard.  I was using prototypes for this page to get it ready for CHA, so they will have a much softer and dimensional feel in the actual product.
I added a hidden journal tag with some banners to pull it out.  Wanted to keep a really clean feel to the page and not cover up the beautiful background paper.  I used my Xyron 1.5" Create-a-Sticker to make the little banners stick together permanently.
Who doesn't love stars and banners.  Such a fun collection filled with possibilities.

Be on the lookout for Fern and Forest Boy.  The LYB design team will be featuring projects on the LYB blog soon, but in the meantime...

Head over to the Little Yellow Bicycle blog today for ideas on LYB's Naturals, Stamps and Tim Holtz Ranger Ink.  It's two weeks loaded with really clever and simple ideas to include Naturals in your everyday lives.  PLUS there are prize opportunities each day.

Simple Stories 24/7 Collection

Simple Stories is shipping three brand new paper collections in March.  The collection featured on this layout is called 24/7 and it is such a fun collection full of primary colors and quirky embellishments.  It's such a great alternative to the brighter, more pink Sn@p collection.
I love how you can layer the cardstock stickers and faux washi tape in this collection to make a fun little cluster. However, Simple Stories has created brand new embellishments to go with this collection including chipboard elements and layered stickers.  Yeah!  Can't wait to see them myself.
I don't think I will ever get tired of notebook paper, because it is so easy to write on and it was such a great background of this school photo of my daughter.
This ruler strip of paper with the days of the week on it was such a fun and novel element.  I made it into a large banner and used it in two different direction on my layout.  Love to use strips of paper because they easily run through my Xyron Create-a-Sticker and make things permanent.
It wouldn't be a Simple Stories collection if there was not a fun banner to go with it.  I love the overlapping elements on this.

Check with your LSS to see when these fantastic collections from Simple Stories are shipping!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Thought I would make some fun cards and little gift boxes to fill with candies and chocolates for my kids.  I used the Just Because collection from Little Yellow Bicycle and my Create-a-Sticker from Xyron.http://www.xyron.com/enUS/Home/default.html
The two larger boxes were nesting gift boxes I found in my gift wrapping stash from X-mas and the top box was a random gift box that I thought would make a perfect topper. To make sure the paper on the sides was extra sticky I ran it through my Create-a-Sticker.  Now it is never going to peel off.
The tops of the boxes were not too difficult to cover.  I used my scoring tool on the corners to make really neat edges that were easy to adhere.  I also love the way sheer ribbons look on gift wrapping, so I tied this beautiful red Offray ribbon around the gift box stack.
I was really just having fun with layering elements on this card with the silver heart and fresh verse stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle being the focus.  I just love how the journal card makes such a great focal element with the sentiment and little notebook edges.

I added some of the brand new Naturals cork heart stick pins from Little Yellow Bicycle to this page.  I love how well it mixes with the bright fun colors of the Just Because collection.

Last but not least, I wanted to keep this card simple because the 6 x 6 patterned paper was so darling and really only needed a little stitching, pop dots and heart stickers.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
