Hopping with Adornit - Day 2

We couldn't do just one day with Adornit - Carolee's Creations, because they have a few amazing collections to share.  So we had to plan 3 full days of fun (this being day 2).  Yesterday was hopscotch, but today we have a little Sock Hop to get our groove on.  All of the designers in the hop are featuring projects with the gorgeous and decadent Vintage Groove Collection.  It's the perfect combination of reds, yellows, grays and blacks that will take you back in time, maybe create some nostalgia and put a smile on your face, just like a Sock Hop...

I really enjoyed creating this set of cards with the Vintage Grove collection.  I love how different all the patterns are and how the colors complement each other so well.  Even thought these cards are distinctly different, they still have a wonderful complimentary color palette.

This is my favorite of the two, because I really love how Adornit makes a lot of paper with text and this one has such a sweet sentiment and works so well with blue paper and cardstock stickers.  All it needed to dress it up was a little ribbon and some pop dots to make the Family stickers stand out.

I also love the clear stickers that come with each of the Adornit collections.  They make the most beautiful flourishes and because they are clear stickers, they are such a great layer to any project and a wonderful and subtle embellishment.  I love the simple stem on this card with the over-sized sticker flower.

Hopping with Adornit - Day 1

Please join some of my friends and I for a little Blog Hopscotch today. We are showcasing the amazing Misty Collection from Adornit - Carolee's Creation and there is a giveaway opportunity on the Adornit Blog at the end of the "game." It is really a pleasure to work with such amazing product and this collection is one of my very favorites. Not only are the colors and patterns gorgeous, but the quality of the paper, stickers and ribbon are some of the very best in the industry. These are photos of my kids from this past summer. I try to dress them in red as often as I can, because it is truly my favorite color to scrapbook - LOL. And, the Misty Collection from Adornit - Carolee's Creations has the best palette of reds, blues, greens and browns. It's simply fabulous.

Tiny alphabets are so popular and Adornit has some really fun colors to choose from. I thought it was a cute idea to include the lyrics to the song, "So Happy Together," since it is also the title of the layout.

Adornit creates the most wonderful clear and cardstock stickers with each of their collections. They also make interesting journal cards, which I cut out and added as an element to the design of this page. The little brown scallops are actually a scalloped strip of cardstock stickers.

Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

Thought I might put together something easy this week since folks are really busy with the holidays.  You should be able to whip up a layout in a jiff and still have time to make cookies!  This is also the last week of the 2010 Guest Designers and I am so thankful for all of their wonderful creations each and every week all the way back to March.  Can you believe it?  I am not yet sure what I am going to do for 2011, but the plan is to continue to have a sketch every Sunday and some examples.  I'll keep you posted about what my thoughts are for 2011.

Sandi Clarkson is our featured designer this week and she actually has the honor of wrapping up the 2010 Guest Designers.  I am always so appreciate of her style and the details she adds to her work.  Here is a little bit about her, "Hello, everyone. I was so excited and honored to be asked to guest design for My Little Sketch Blook. I have adored Liz's sketch work for a long time now and she is always right on track! I'm married to a wonderful guy named Dan and we live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area. We have 3 grown daughters, 3 BILs and 14 wonderful grandkids! Yes, fourteen .. and counting! I work as an Audiologist in the medical field by day and scrapbook by night. My SIL Susanna introduced me to this hobby about 5 years ago and I fell in love! It is the creative outlet that I need at the end of the day to help me unwind and relax."

Here is what Sandi had to say about working with the sketch, "I loved the simplicity of  this sketch!  My guest design spot came at a busy time of year and Liz's well-planned sketch relieved my anxiety of not getting something done for her in time. I did choose to do one large photo instead of the 2 vertical photos because I had this awesome new photo of my granddaughter playing in the water from this past summer that I really wanted to scrap.  I also added a few more flowers around the photo but eliminated the one by the title because of the bold images on my patterned paper. Lastly, instead of the narrow strip across the center, I used a Dusty Attic piece that I had been hoarding for awhile.  This is one great sketch and I plan to use it again soon! And thanks to Liz for having me!"

Monica Goswick is back again this week with a fun and quirky layout.  Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "I have not been scrapping that much the last few weeks and it really did challenge me to get my stuff out and create something.  As always though working with a sketch from Liz is easy.  I found that everything just came together.  I replaced the flowers with hearts and replaced the buttons with rhinestones, but kept the placement of papers and photos exactly the same.  I love the layering of different pattern papers and was able to use up some of my older doodlebug papers, they worked perfectly with the colors in my photos."

Imaginisce Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome to our little Imaginisce 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop to warm you up on a cold day! What about a little Cottage Christmas Mitten Wreath to turn the cold into a cozy craft day? This wreath was created with a Maya Road Chipboard Album and the Imaginisce Cottage Christmas collection.

Close Ups of the mittens and cuffs. I used some clear stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle's Christmas Delight collection to add the sentiment and some fuzzy yarn to add some detail to the cuffs.

Make sure you have all of your supplies: chipboard mitten album, super cute Cottage Christmas 6 x 6 patterned papers, 12 inch cake plate, etc..

Trace the album on the back of the 6 x 6 papers, cut out the shape and ink the edges. Then assemble the parts with a good adhesive.

Use some of the Imaginisce Apple Cider paper to make the little "wood" brads for the mittens with the Imaginisce i-top. The 16 mm punch and brad daddies were the perfect size for this project.

Add some furry details to the mittens with some fun yarn, This was a bit of a challenge, but my favorite part of the whole project. I used some of Tombow's multi Aqua glue and just adore the look.
