Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

This week's sketch is the last sketch for the August challenge.  Hope you all have fun with it.  It has been such a crazy month for me and I am sooooooo far behind on my blog (in case you haven't noticed).  I'll get caught up again soon :)  But now for the wonderful guest designers.

Rozella Meijer-Kern is the featured guest designer this week,  She created a really beautiful layout to share with all of you, but first here is a little about her, "I'm Rozella Meijer-Kern and I live in the Netherlands. I am married to my husband Peter and we have two beautiful girls Lysanne and Julia. I discovered scrapbooking a few years ago and have been addicted ever since. Through scrapbooking I keep my memories alive but above all I get to be creative. I love using lots of flowers and bling. Mostly I love to create scrapbook pages and I have been published in various magazines and serve on several design teams. I am honored and excited for the opportunity to be part of Liz's guest designers.
Here is a what Rozella had to say about working with the sketch this week, "I used the sketch as base, but made some changes.  One thing is I moved the title above the picture. This is my youngest daugther in the summer of 2009. Her hair is almost white. Instead of circles, I used prima flowers and some bling from ZVA Creative. My pictures used were a little too big, so I had to improvise with the sketch.

Teresa Fenstermacher is back again this week with her amazing design.  Here is what she had to say about working with my sketch, "Once again, I completely enjoyed working with Liz's sketch. My layout went together like a dream. I love how Liz puts so many layers in her sketches yet they have very clean lines. The addition of the circle is perfect. I stayed true to the sketch with the exception of using one photograph instead of two because this adorable picture of my grandson had to take center stage! The papers I used are from the Fancy Pants "Like Father Like Son" line. When you have a sketch with this many layers, it is nice to be able to go to one paper line to get 3 or 4 different patterns that coordinate so you can layer them up. Thanks Liz for another awesome sketch and for the opportunity to design for you!"
Please visit Teresa's blog Teresa Jaye is Here to Play for more information about her and details about her work.

Pat Bishop is also back again this week with another of her wonderful designs.  She said this about working with the sketch this week, "For this layout, I used Cosmo Cricket's Over Easy,  and Bazzill cardstock. I also cut scalloped circles and embossed them to kind of look like tires to mirror the ones in the photos. I kept the layout pretty much the same as the sketch with just a few added embellishments."

Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

I thought it would be fun to play with circles again...I've gotten a little square lately. LOL! I love what the guest designers did with the sketch this week. This sketch is also eligible for the August Sketch Challenge.

Michelle Unruh makes her third appearance as a guest designer this week and I am in love with her layout. I couldn't have imagined how beautiful this sketch would translate, but she sure did! Here is what she had to say about working with it, "Liz's sketches are always so easy to use. This is a great sketch that flows so well, and I really just followed it pretty tightly. I feel like the layout put itself together!!! LOL Because, it came together really quickly. " Isn't she a sweetie???
Please visit Michelle's blog Happenings on this Side of the River for more information about her and details about her work.

Sandie Vincent also makes her third appearance this week and I just love the contrast between she and Michelle's projects. One is so bright and cute and Sandie's is so perfectly grungy and adult. I absolutely love what she created. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "I was so inspired by the circles in this sketch, I love working with circles and knew that this was perfect for the papers that I'd been saving to scrap my new camera! Instead of having a circular layout, I used the main circle as the focus for my layout and layered my papers as per the sketch, and adding cameras instead of flowers and flourishes! I also moved the position of my title as I had used a quotation as one of my strips. I just love working with sketches, you can't beat a kickstart to your inspiration!!!"

Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

Still have some flowers in your stash that you are dying to use???  Check out what our guest designers did with the sketch this week...  Remember, this sketch is eligible for the August Sketch Challenge.  Click HERE to add your project with this sketch to Mr. Linky.

I think there were some wires crossed this week and I have not received a project from our featured designer, so until further notice, there are two wonderful projects to share from our other two designers.

Robbie Herring is back this week with her final project as one of the guest designers and leaves us with the most adorable project ever....  I love what she did with the daisies on her layout in honor of her new puppy of the same name - Daisy.  Here is what Robbie had to say about using the sketch, "Talk about your 45 minute or less layout!  I whipped this up the morning it was due and loved all the elements of the sketch.  It started to get a bit busy, so believe it or not, I took some elements off of it.  The die-cut isn't very large, so I was working on a smaller pallet and I just had to add the daisies. Perfect for my first page of my sweet Daisy!"

Please visit Robbie's blog Just the Scrap for more information about her and details about her work.

Tracy Gardiner also returns this week with a wonderful version of the sketch which includes a really exciting color palette.  Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to the right to accommodate my landscape orientation photos and I elected to “join” the embellishments down the right side of my photos by moving the clusters closer together.  My journaling reads as follows: 'Usually, getting you to take the rubbish out is a mission, but, add a 4-wheeler, a trailer, your cousins and your oups and a nasty task becomes a fun one!  April 2010'  Thanks for the great sketch!"

Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

Let's have some fun with a vertical title this week, flowers and maybe even some ribbon! The guest designers did such a great job of showing the versatility of the sketch and the wide range of possibilities with materials and color. Check out what they created below...This sketch is also eligible for the August Sketch Challenge, which I will be posting sometime tomorrow.
Barbara Lochridge is our featured designer this week and she will not disappoint. Here is a little bit about her, "Lately my life has been consumed by thoughts of my grandaughter, who was born this past March. I had two sons, so she was a much awaited surprise and blessing, in more ways than one. I finally get to buy pink and do all the girly pages I want!" Look at Barbara's wonderful layout!
A little more from Barbara, "The page I did for Liz's wonderful sketch doesn't even include my new granddaughter. Sorry, didn't have any vertical photos of her. I just loved the sketch. It was very easy to put together, and didn't really require anything fancy to cut with. Though, I did add some flourishes that I cut with my cricut expression. I also matted and punched in black to make the papers stand out more. Because of the title I had to forego the journaling. I tried adding some, but it didn't look right. I also added some buttons. So there you go, very easy and I love how it turned out!"
Close Ups of Barbara's Work
Please visit Barbara's blog Scrap Happenings for more information about her and details about her work.
Melinda Spinks is back again with another one of her jaw dropping creations (I love to open the emails - LOL). Is that photo adorable or what??? Here is what she said about working with the sketch this week, "Firstly, thanks Liz for having me back! Again, we were spoilt with a 'beautiful sketch', Liz always designs such a clever balance in her sketches and missing mojo is never an issue... everything is right there in front of you! I didn't stray too much from the original concept, just tweaked a few things to suit the style of layout I was going for ie... used monsters instead of flowers etc LOL! I didn't think Liz would mind."
Please visit Melinda's blog The Scrap Farm for more information about her and details about her work.

Celine Michels joins us again this week with her wonderful interpretation of the sketch. I love the way the color palette she chose really makes the colors in her stunning photos pop. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch this week, "I was really happy to "scrap" this sketch ! It is really simple and harmonious. I had 2 photos I wanted to put in my album for a long time, I modified a little the sketch to integrate one vertical photo and one horizontal. The Wisteria collection of BG was perfect for my subject and colours. I used some stamps, one is a Floril├Ęges and one a Es[Kiss]."

Live Healthy Fridays

Do any of you do yoga? I really love it and have been needing to participate, but I tore my ACL for a second time last year and a second surgery has left my knee in pretty bad shape. I think I tried to get back to Yoga too soon and experienced a lot of pain in my knee...but the truth is I really miss it. I am also back to school this week and getting ready for a grueling month of planning and training for all of the teachers in my school district. I am an instructional coach and responsible for much of the professional development for teachers. This is such a stressful month for me and a bit of Yoga would probably do me some good. Sigh...

So, if you don't see me around too much this month - you know I am working at my "real" job which tends to encroach on my hobby. LOL!

If Lori Says So...

These two lovely ladies, Bridget Bradley and Lori Allred, are a couple of the brilliant minds behind the popularity of Imaginisce. In fact, Lori (also known as our fearless design team coordinator) is the one who gives away all the cool stuff on the Imaginisce blog. And, lately it seems like she is giving something away every day of the week! She told us to let everyone we know that right now there is a HUGE giveaway opportunity on the Imaginisce Blog. Just click HERE for more information. I know the stuff is cool, so I recommend heading that way and seeing what's up...especially if Lori says so - just let them know that I sent you...

Flower Girl...Again

We think it is really funny that my daughter has been asked to be a flower girl 4 times. When in the world do these many opportunities come up??? Anyway - the joke is that by now she is a professional and someone to be counted on in a pinch - no danger of flowers going where they shouldn't, crying or wandering off :) She is really good at it!

This project was also created with the yummy August kit from The Paper Poppy Kit Co. and is based on the monthly sketch which is mine this month. Come join the sketch challenge over there and possibly win a prize.
I love these polka dotted thickers from American Crafts.  They were the perfect compliment to the Cosmo Cricket Delovely collection and the Jillibean Soup Summer Squash collection.  The kit is loaded with goodies that will not disappoint.
I can never get enough of Cosmo Cricket's Ready Set Chipboard.  They are high quality and super easy to add to a project.  These birghtly colored flowers were the perfect accent to my page.

Imaginisce Sketch Challenge

It's that time again and we have another AWESOME sketch to share this month at Imaginisce from the lovely and talented Sarah de Guzman.  Most of you know the drill, but here are the instructions again for our sketch blog hop.  Add a comment to the Imaginisce home blog and you will be entered into a drawing for some Imaginisce goodness. Leave a comment here and on any of the other design team blogs who participated in the sketch challenge this month and you increase your odds of winning. Don't forget to stop by the Imaginisce Facebook page for even more chances of winning.   Hope you will play along this month for another opportunity to win some goodies.
This card was created with the Imaginisce Birthday Bash collection and included with these wonderful products are the Celebrate You border rub-ons.  I used the little banner flags and shaped them to fit inside the circle I traced and then "stitched" with a black gel pen.  Then I added rub-on balloons, ribbon and the sticker glass packages.  This card took about 30 minuted to make...

Have fun and thank you so much for stopping by -

Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

I am in love with what the guest designers did with the sketch this week! I've been playing with strips of paper lately, which for this sketch also translates into journal strips, so this is what I came up with... Have you noticed I've been staying away from just one photo??? I try... Since it is August 1st, this sketch will be eligible for the August Sketch Challenge which I will post in a few days, after I announce the winner of the July Challenge - have time :)

Take a look at the work of these incredibly talented ladies. Make sure you go visit their blogs for some extra tips and inspiration....
Heather Robertson is our featured designer this week and she really went all out with her AWESOME project. Here is a little bit about her, "I've been blessed to be able to live in two of the most beautiful places on earth. I grew up in Northern Ireland and now live in Alaska. Our family loves to spend time outdoors - hiking, fishing (I read while they fish), cycling and traveling. Dan and I have been married for 13 years (lucky for some) and have a 12 year old Nathan who avoids the camera like the plague and a 10 year old daughter Lauren who is always on alert for posing. Also, often featured on my pages are our two Chesapeakes, Kona and Willou and our 3 cats - Meow, Deshka and Athena. I've been scrapping for about 7 years, mainly pages but I also love to create cards. I "collect" mini albums and my resolution is to start filling them up with memories. Some of my favorite things to do is mix papers and embellishments from lots of different companies, stitch, use punches , lots of shapes, journal and combine bold colors. I sometimes seem to be behind the times with new techniques and trends but I always try to be a little different anyway."
Heather totally blew me away with this layout of my sketch. I opened her email and my jaw hit the floor. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch this week, "Liz's sketches are so perfect I really hate to mess with them. I offset the middle square a little since I hate to have anything centered. I also love to have borders on my papers to add definition so I added both a paper and stitched border. I don't often use flowers, so I substituted the K&Co and Imaginisce stickers in their place. Instead of journaling, I added a Heidi Grace acrylic quote which reads,"one's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things." I love the muted Basic Grey background which gives the white space but also a little interest, and I love how the colors in the other papers pop against the beige."
Close ups of Heather's work.
Please visit Heather's blog Unleashed!! for more information about her and details about her work.

Lisa Hidy is back again this week and she created a darling version of my sketch. Are those photos adorable or what - great moment to scrap. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "When I got this sketch, I was immediately excited about the amount of layering it had...I am not the best at layering and combining patterned papers, and since I believe practice makes perfect, I was excited about the opportunity to step outside my box and have fun playing with numerous patterns! I loved this sketch, it is easy to "make your own", and I found the Pink Paislee Starlight papers and embellishments that I had been hoarding worked perfectly with it!"
Please visit Lisa's blog My Creative Endeavors for more information about her and details about her work.

Bonnie Friesen is also returning with some wonderful work this week. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "I was very excited when I saw Liz's sketch, despite the fact that it had 2 photos! I love all the layers in the sketch! I knew right away what photos I was going to use and what papers and embellishments I was going to add. I chose Basic Grey's Capella papers that I inked and distressed and made my twisted Camelot Doop flowers. The layout turned out just like I had envisioned it ! Thank you Liz, for another amazing sketch and the opportunity to Guest Design for you! You are an inspiration!"
