Sunday Sketch, November 29th

It's time to get in the mood for the holidays! What are you crafting out there??? I've been seeing a lot of trees around and thought it would be fun to incorporate one into a sketch. So to kick off this holiday season, here is a seasonal sketch. Stay tuned from more holiday fun as the month progresses.

I had some of the Pebbles Inc. Season's Greetings collection lying around. It is so cute and I think, pretty hard to come by, but if you have some in your stash, here is an idea for using the super cute patterns and embellishments. I used a Martha Stewart border punch and some Pebbles Chips to dress it up. BTW - in real life, my layout is totally straight, but I think I must be exhausted from Thanksgiving and suffering from shaky hands, LOL.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope those of you stateside are enjoying a delicious meal with family and friends and then parking it on the couch for football or some other entertaining screen time. Put your scrap materials down for the day and enjoy your loved ones. To celebrate this wonderful holiday are some cards I created for a couple of Pebbles challenges.

This card was for Suzanne Sergi's Punch it Out challenge. I used a few of Martha Stewart's punches including, a branch, leaf and punch around the page scalloped punch. This card is a combination of Lil' Miss and Downtown collections.

I had a blast making this card. It was one of those creations fueled by caffeine and happening late at night after you have ripped up two previously started projects. I was working on Emeline Seet's Color Combo challenge and I had Thanksgiving on the brain. I just kept staring at the Linnie Bell collection stickers and how I might use them on a card. All of a sudden, the largest flower started to look a lot like turkey feathers and so I grabbed the So Tweet stickers and cut the legs off of one of the birds and added it to the flower. Then I used a brown parenthesis for the neck and cut the center out of the pink tulip on the Skipping Along sticker sheet for the head. All in all, I think it was a great late night idea, conceived at the 11th hour.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day. - Liz

Tuesday Mornings

Are you like me...getting ready for a craft fest to create some special projects to share with your loved ones at Christmas? Below are some product ideas at really reasonable prices that might put you on the right road.

Clear glass ornament balls are a staple for crafting at this time of year. There are so many different ways to decorate these little must haves. I found a box of 9 at Target for $6.00. I'll be sharing some of my project ideas for these little gems in December. Hope to see some of yours.

Where would we be without Krinkle Paper? This shredded delight has many uses beyond packing breakables. I found a whole bag at Walmart for a buck. Stay tuned for some fun holiday ideas.

Don't forget the Ribbon - Below is a description about the awesome Ribbon Spools from Pebbles Inc. $6.99 for 5 yards of quality ribbon.

Pebbles Inc. color on color spool Ribbon (12 designs)

Sunday Sketch, November 22nd

Truth be told...I have not had an opportunity to try this sketch. But, I like the idea of the squared-off look with minimal embellishments. I might mess around with it a bit this week. Please feel free to send me your examples and I will post them on my blog with a link to your blog.

Speechless!

I was absolutely stunned to see that my Let it Snow layout made the cover of Scrapbooking and Beyond's Winter 2009 issue. This is more than a dream come true and I think I have been walking on Cloud 9 for a few days now. I have to give most of the credit to my cute little munchkin, Maddie, for her inspiring personality which always shines in her photos.

This layout was designed for a series at SB&B called A Flourish for Every Season, which began in the Spring 2009 issue. The Winter issue is our final installment of the wonderfully fun series. I specifically chose the KI Memories Frosty Lace Cardstock as a major design element for its flourish pattern. I also love Pebbles Inc's Snow Fun collection. It is the perfect combination of blues, greens and whites and feels perfectly cold.

This little Snow Day mini album with the same Snow Fun collection can also be seen in the SB&B Winter 2009 Issue. I used a Plain Jane chipboard album that had scallops on the first layer and then wielded my Fiskars Apron Lace punch to mirror the pattern on the rest of the layers.

Thank you for stopping by and celebrating with me - Liz

Tuesday Mornings

Do you enjoy downloading your favorite songs (the legal way)? I like to download MP3s from amazon.com because it is soooooo simple. I even find some songs for free. Check out a few of my favorites below.

I REALLY like this one from David Byrne and Brian Eno called Strange Overtones. It's also on my blog playlist. Love the funky little tune and David Byrne is of course an icon.

I can never get enough of Ziggy Marley. He has even battled the winter cold and come to the Mountains to perform, while making everyone feel like part of the Marley family, even though he was probably freezing his butt off and wishing he were back on the Islands. Here is his version of Paul Simon's song Walk Tall.

I have no idea who this band is, but this is a cool sounding track from the Raveonettes called Last Dance (no relation to Donna Summer's song).

You can't beat free, legal music in this economy. Hope you find something you like and feel free to leave me a comment to let me know if you did.

Take care and thanks for stopping by - Liz

Sunday Sketch, November 15th

This is a sketch I created for a Dream Girls Challenge a few months ago. I apologize for not having an example of my own, but if you click here, you can see what the amazing Dream Girls Design Team did with my sketch. I'll be back next week with another sketch and an example of my own work, just a little behind.

Tuesday Mornings

Are you worried about your skin??? Well...you probably should be. The Skin Type Solution by Leslie Baumann is one of the best books you will ever read. If you are like most Americans and do not have dermatology covered in your health plan, this book about skin care is the next best alternative. A friend recommended this book to me and after taking the skin survey included in the book, I started a reasonably priced skin regimen based on what the author advised and have seen remarkable results. You can find this book at amazon.com for $10.

Your first skin care purchase should be an antioxidant for your skin and Avon Anew Alternative Clearly C is a really great product for a really small price. You can find this at many online beauty stores for less than $20
I found this super cute Oval Scallop Mini Chipboard Coaster Book from Maya Road at Two Peas in a Bucket for $1. Don't you just need this? I think I do.

Sunday Sketch, November 8th

My little stinkers are very obliging when it comes to photo shoots. However, it's rare that I can photograph them both smiling at the same time, so this is one with my daughter smiling and my son about to jump out of her lap :). For this layout, I love the new October Afternoon Report Card Collection. The colors are really bright and fun with lots of potential, especially for kids. I also used the OA Mini Market Sticker letters in the title along with American Crafts to break it up.

Have fun with the sketch and thank you for stopping by - Liz

A Little More than Excited

I'm very excited to announce that I will be joining the new Design Team at Imaginisce! I have fallen in love with all of their bright, fun and perfect for my two little stinkers collections. Not to mention all of the other wonderful product created by this amazing company.

Imaginisce frequently posts really clever project ideas and give aways on their blog. Please come by for a look see. Below is one of the cards I submitted with my application using the Polar Expressions collection. This holiday line is full of fun and can easily be used in a variety of ways. Please see my Sunday Sketch from November 1st for an idea on how to use these papers for everyday layouts.

My Creative Scrapbook is excited to reveal the November Kits. Please come check out the Design Team Gallery here. Below are a few of my projects from the Main Kit featuring The Teresa Collins Friendship Collection and the Creative Kit featuring the Simple Pleasures Collection from 3 Bugs in a Rug. Both of these kits are loaded with goodies and were so much fun to play with. Thanks again to Pam for putting together another month of scrapbooking heaven.

Tuesday Mornings

This weeks ideas:
Do you like red shoes? I love them...and so does my daughter. These little Ragg Polka Dot Taryn Ballet Flats are her favorite shoes right now. We found them at amazon.com for less than $15 and received free shipping on our order.

Adorn It Tiny Alphabet stickers from Carolee's Creations are a must have. These itty bitty letters are the perfect way to break up your titles and add captions to photos and cards. Found these at Scrapbook.com for less than a $1.

We have not had television at our home for 10 years, so I have not seen this infomercial, but...there is something to be said about going green with Shamwow. No more paper towels to clean up after the two "spillers" who reside at my home.

ShamWow washes, dries and polishes any surface. It's like a towel, chamois and sponge all in one!

  • For home, car, spills, pet stains, bathrooms and more
  • Super absorbent
  • One swipe and your spills are gone
  • ShamWow towels are machine washable and bleachable
  • Made in Germany
You can find a box of eight Shamwows at Walmart for less than $20.

Sunday Sketch, November 1st

Time to use up some photos. Do you have two 5x7 photos that go together? This week's sketch is all about big photos and big titles. Have fun.

What do you do with all of your Holiday papers after the season has passed by? Simple, use them in everyday layouts just like your other papers. In this layout, I used some of the less heavily patterned papers to make a layout of my daughter and her multiple personalities. The Polar Expression papers from Imaginisce have a great color palette and a wide variety of patterns that made it easy to switch from winter and Christmas to just a bright, fun layout.
