Official Monthly Sketch Challenge

Okay...it's about time I get a little more organized and give people another reason to hang out here. How about an opportunity to win a little RAK each month for using my sketches?

At the end of each month, I will post all of the sketches from that month. Participants will have a week to link any work done with my sketches to the Official Challenge post and then will be entered into a drawing. The more sketches you use and links you make, the more times you will be entered into the drawing. Then at the end of the final week, I will announce the winner for the month and post their work and links to my blog. Cool?

Here is this month's RAK. I just LOVE Crate Paper and the Lemon Grass line is perfect for late summer or fall projects. This kit is loaded with plenty of fun things to get you going. Please see all of the sketches from May below. I will draw for a winner on June 7th. Hope to see many of you posting a link to your layout in the comments section of my post. - Liz

Sunday Sketch, May 31st

I'm fascinated by multiple photos, because my instinct is always to choose the "best" photo and just scrap it. There are some photos that are perfect by themselves, but there are others that look really cool in a grouping of photos. This sketch is my attempt to help organize how you can use multiple photos in a really appealing way, so they don't overwhelm the page and look sloppy. Let me know your thoughts on this one, or how it turns out for you.

I have been dying to use my Fancy Pants Summer Soiree papers for a few months now, but you know how life goes and so many other projects come up and things get put on the back burner. I stayed up really late last night working on this one and am really happy with the result. The papers are gorgeous and really mix and match perfectly. I don't think my photo does them justice. I also used this little alphabet that I grabbed from the $1.99 bin at Archivers. I just wish I had grabbed a few more sets, because it is so perfect with these papers. In real life, the letters look like wood. The flowers are Bazzill Tropical Ruby. Thank you for stopping by - Liz

Sunday Sketch, May 24th

Still sketching on my journey with circles...how about half circles this week? I also wanted to do something that can easily be feminine or masculine.

This layout is of my son. The irony of the layout is that I made it as part of my design team work for My Creative Scrapbook with Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday papers. Please don't tell him the name of the papers, because I think this is a super cute little boy page :)

Thank you for stopping by - Liz

Sunday Sketch, May 17th

I'm still fascinated by circles and my Creative Memories circle cutter is really getting a work out. I thought it might be fun to use a bunch of circles and layer them around the photo. I think you could used both open and closed circles for this sketch. Have fun with it and let me know if you use it, so I can admire your work.

I don't think I could scrap this photo of my children enough. This moment really sums up how connected they are and happy to be together. The papers are Legacy from Pebbles Inc. I just love how the navy and light blues work with the black and white photo. Plus, the kit came with the big round journal card, which really got me thinking about this design. I'm also loving the Pebbles Inc. Candy Dots, because they are just as much fun as bling, but give a little different feel and texture.

Lily Bee - Just Be Me Contest

Lily Bee is having a mini album contest with their new lines of paper and are offering prizes and possibly a guest design spot opportunity. How cool is that? I found this little Creative Imaginations purse album at Archivers in the $1.99 bin! What a lucky find, because I was thinking that a purse would be perfect for Lily Bee's French Couture line and that a purse is where you carry around a lot of the things that describe who you are...like photos of your family and things you love like credit cards and gift certificates for pedicures.

Anyway...thank you Lily Bee for the awesome idea and inspiration, this was so much fun! Please visit their blog to see the other awesome entries...good luck everyone!

Sunday Sketch, May 10th

Alright, I am feeling badly about not posting a brand new sketch tonight (Hey, I was busy with Mother's Day stuff) So...I am going back into the archives and pulling out an "oldy, but goody" sketch from 2007. Best case scenario - it will be new to many of you, it will seem new to those of you with memory issues, or it will just be fun to do again. Multiphoto is all the rage...magazines are even requesting it for submissions. Have fun with this - Liz

Happy Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day and I am enjoying the time with my family. Not sure that I will get any sketching done today, so please enjoy the vase of tulips (my favorite) instead. I'll be back soon with a new sketch. Take care and enjoy your day too. - Liz

Sunday Sketch, May 3rd

I have been thinking about ways to utilize more photos on my layouts and since I have been playing with my new camera, I find I have more good shots from the same photo shoot to scrap. I also have a bunch of wallet-sized photos lying around and need to use up those little suckers. Here's my take on my sketch this week.

These are the So Tweet papers from Pebbles Inc. I have been waiting for the perfect photos to play with this bright, fun paper and I think I may have found a good match. Something really cool about the Pebbles Inc. papers are that the strip at the bottom of the paper to identify the product has a unique print on the back of it that can be used on your projects. The thin, blue and white striped piece on my layout is exactly that. Thank you for stopping by and can't wait to see what you come up with. - Liz

National Scrapbooking Day

Hope you all had a chance to get some scrapping done today. I got just a bit in, but it's been raining, so no luck in photographing much today. I am also in the midst of organizing the DT gallery for MCS and these are some sneak peeks for the May Main Kit at My Creative Scrapbook. The paper line is Lillian from Crate Paper and there are so many wonderful extras to play with. I'm constantly trying to pull out a boy layout here and there, so stay tuned for the rest of this layout on our reveal, Cinco de Mayo. Take care - Liz
