Sunday Sketch and Guest Designers

What inspires you? Sometimes when I create a sketch, I have a vision in my head and the design just flows. But...sometimes I go through creative blocks just like everyone else - hard to believe, but true - LOL. However, it wouldn't be that ethical for me to use someone else's sketch to make a sketch, would it??? When I was designing this week's sketch, I had been struggling with a really bad head cold and the creative juices just weren't flowing. So, I started surfing through the gallery at Two Peas for some inspiration and came across two side-by-side layouts that were completely different but had elements I really liked. One had two photos stacked on top of each other and the other had a criss crossed element. Bingo! I took both ideas and created this sketch, which I have to say is one of my very favorites. Take a look at the amazing work the guest designers did with it this week.

This sketch is also eligible for the May Sketch Challenge. Click here to link up your work with this sketch.

Luzma Bruna is a designer that I have known and admired for a long time. I was tickled when she offered to be a guest designer. Here work is so bright and bold and easy to pick out in the online galleries. Let's get to know Luzma a little bit more. "I’m 44 years old and I live in Santiago, Chile which is in South America at the end of the world. I’ve been married for 15 years. We have a girl of 13 called Bernardita (Nini) and a boy of 11 called Rodrigo (Yoyo). I began to scrap in March of 2007, because a small scrapbook shop was opened here in Santiago. I worked as a travel agent for 20 years but I always had a hobby of making hand-made crafts. I created fabric dolls, cross stitch, hand made carpets, etc and every time I visited the USA, I went to crafts shops and found myself in the scrapbook aisle. I said to me don’t buy this…you know anything about this hobby - LOL!! But, now I’m addicted!"

Here is what Luzma had to say about working with the sketch, "First of all I want to say thanks to Liz for giving me the opportunity to show my work on her blog. I love her sketches and been using them for a long time. When I saw this one I immediately thought about a pair of knitting needles and a picture that Nini took me last summer with a scarf I had knitted." Check out the gorgeous detail in Luzma's close ups and of course those knitting needles. Please visit Luzma's blog Luzma's Scraplace for more information about her and details about her work.

Sheila Danforth did some amazing detail work on her project and did a wonderful job with the sketch this week. I love how she dressed her layout up with lace and pearls. Here is what she had to say about working with the sketch, "I really enjoy using Liz's sketches, all the work is done for you and you are free to just create! I love how everything just flows together so perfectly on the page when you see the finished results. The photos are of me and my mom and on the bottom, my daughters and I. I used the new Fancy Pants-Road Show paper line, because it is so shabby and vintage (my favorite). I tucked a doily behind the photo on the lower left, added a mini clip to the journal card, a couple of pearl gems, a couple of flowers and a little ribbon and lace. I wanted to stay true to the sketch and keep it simple and uncluttered, but it was a challenge for me to do so. I normally want to fill up the page with clusters of flowers and embellishments but I feel this layout turned out quite elegant! Thanks Liz for the Great sketch!!!" Please visit Sheila's blog Luv 2 Scrap for more information about her and details about her work.

Pat Bishop is back again with us this week and my jaw dropped when I saw the gorgeous photos in her project. I love the super bright colors she used from The Paper Company and how she contrasted her complimentary colors. Pat said, "I love Liz's sketches and like to stick closely to the design. For this layout, I added strips of fabric and was really excited to find this new paper collection."Please visit Pat's blog A Scrappin' Nana for more information about her and details about her work.

Thank you so much stopping by -
