Little Yellow Bicycle Guest Debut

I am so excited to be Guest Blogging at Little Yellow Bicycle this month.  This is my first project with their just released Savor collection.  You need to get your hands on this - the papers are spectacular and the embellishments are amazing!  Thank you also for jumping over to the LYB BLOG to download the instructions for this project and for leaving me a little love.
Savory Good is a two-page layout about my recent journey in cooking. I work full-time as an educator and was struggling with getting a “decent” meal on the table each night during our family’s very busy week.  It got to the point where we were eating almost the same thing every week and the tedium of the situation was taking its toll.  I happened to be in a bookstore a few months ago and spied this copy of The Weeknight Cook and cannot tell you what a difference it has made for our family.  We are eating like kings and the recipes are easy and delicious.  I’ve even set a personal goal to make something different each night and work my way through the book…with one exception - Pizza Night.  That is a Qualman tradition that shall not be messed with if you know what I mean.

I especially love the beautiful Bread Basket Plaid paper.  Not only does it make a great design element on the page, but the small pattern also makes a great title design.  I used my Cricut Billionaire cartridge (found at Walmart) to cut the first word of the title and then added a one of the Savor cardstock stickers to finish it off.
I loved the way the Savory Stripes floral strip looked over the plaid paper, but it needed just a bit more embellishment, so I added three of the epoxy buttons and tied them together with some twine.  The stickpins were one of those late at night “Aha” moments in scrapping where you think, “What if I added this…” and then thank goodness that it totally works.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope to see you all jumping into the Little Yellow Bicycle sketch contest this month!  Wait until you see it - it is my very first two-page sketch and the contest should be posted early next week.
